ÀKANBÍ was created in July 2015, right after my daughter's 5th birthday. After her first visit to Nigeria early that year, we brought back African fabric garments that we both wore to church. She received lots of compliments on the uniqueness of the fabrics and everyone asked where they could get similar clothing. Unfortunately, there was no clear-cut answer as I quickly realized the gap and ÀKANBÍ was launched.
